Remanufacturing: How Does it Work?
Open Plan Systems continually evaluates pre-owned furniture inventories across the country to identify acceptable inventory. Of the 60,000 pounds they receive on a weekly basis, only 1,000 are sent to the landfill. Once inventory arrives, it is carefully inspected and reconditioned. More than 85% of the original parts are used, and many fabrics are made from recycled products such as plastic bottles. A special powder coat process reclaims unused paint and emits fewer toxic VOCs.
